PJ Colando was born and raised in the Midwest, yet unabashedly aspired for adventure elsewhere, following her parents’ model. Writing is her encore career, and she is having a blast! She lives in southern California with her family, hobbies, and pets.
What is your primary or favorite genre to write? – I write humor & satire with a literary bent.
Do you have other genres you write for? – Commercial women’s fiction.
Which project is your favorite so far? Why? – The Winner’s Circle, the third book in my Faith, Family, Frenzy! series.
How long have you been writing? – I’ve been creatively crafting for ten years. Before that, I wrote thousands of clinical reports in my speech-language pathology private practice.
Where is your favorite place to write? What kind of atmosphere do you need? Quiet, music, coffee, wine? Any tricks to get in the zone? – I literally can write anywhere as long as my mind is active and I have a pen. I carry a small tablet everywhere to accept the muse when she comes.
What genres do you prefer to read? – Literary fiction… if a novel makes me think and makes me look up eleven words in a dictionary, that’s great!
What’s your favorite book or movie? – The Great Gatsby and because my husband and I don’t movie-out much, my default, which is my first movie is Gone with the Wind.
What do you do for fun when you’re not writing? – To laugh and visit with friends (Midwesterners don’t chat or talk – they visit).
