Best-selling author Sherry Gloag left her Scottish roots to move to the English Midlands and now lives in East Anglia. With more than fifteen books, short stories, and magazine articles under her belt, Sherry balances her writing time with her love of gardening. In the past, she has worked as a teacher’s assistant, school secretary, and done a stint in a garden nursery before becoming self-employed in the retail industry.
What is your primary or favorite genre to write? – Contemporary, light paranormal, and Regency romances.
Do you have other genres you write for? – No.
Which project is your favorite so far? Why? – Vidal’s Honor, a Regency romance with a twist of adventure and mystery. It required a lot of detailed research, one, in particular, I found both fascinating and amusing. Back in 1820, the French were keeping records of the weather conditions. Not so the English. And since my hero and heroine had to cross the channel, I needed to know what kind of weather they would experience. Happily, thanks to the French records, I had a wonderful, genuine storm on the night of their crossing.
How long have you been writing? – On and off for a very long time. With serious intent – over ten years with a five-year break in the middle.
Where is your favorite place to write? What kind of atmosphere do you need? Quiet, music, coffee, wine? Any tricks to get in the zone? – I have a desk with most of my writing needs handy. I prefer quiet or classical musical playing low in the background. Tea, no coffee or wine, just gallons of tea. I’m a Brit, we drink tea 🙂
What genres do you prefer to read? – That depends on my mood… A wide variety of romance, which includes the genres I write in. Also, nature, detective, and biographies, to name a few.
What’s your favorite book or movie? – Again, it depends on my mood, but generally something that has a feel-good factor. A favourite film? Love Letter by Jack Finney and the 2002 film, Unconditional Love, co-written and directed by PJ Hogan.
What do you do for fun when you’re not writing? – I enjoy creating handcrafted items made with selenite and crystals. I enjoy reading, writing, obviously, or maybe not so obvious as it can be a big challenge at times. I find walking and photography therapeutic. Did I mention reading?
