What is your primary or favorite genre to write? – Paranormal. All of my heroes are supernatural in some way, except Austen, the hero in Gambler’s Choice, my book about the horsey set. Out of all my books, he alone is simply human—well, a handsome human!
Do you have other genres you write for? – I really write across the board: sci-fi romance, fantasy romance, dark fantasy, and, of course, paranormal. I also write erotic romance under the pen name Bianca Swan.
Which project is your favorite so far? Why? – Sinners’ Opera, first published with a Canadian publisher. When I got my rights back, I submitted to Wild Rose Press, and it’s with my editor there right now. I love the hero, Morgan, who is a classical pianist, an English lord…and a vampire. He is handsome, arrogant, and totally in love with Isabeau.
How long have you been writing? – Since I was an early teen. I wrote angst poetry and short stories starring supernatural heroes. I showed my work to a local newspaper editor. He trashed it, and I put my pen down for 20 years. I began writing again in 1992 and won the Georgia Romance Writers’ Magnolia award in the unpublished category. However, I didn’t get published for some time.
Where is your favorite place to write? What kind of atmosphere do you need? Quiet, music, coffee, wine? – My favorite place is somewhere with an ocean view, but alas I am not gifted with enough $$ to afford my preferred lifestyle. I write at my desk, which is in my kitchen. The kitchen is very large, and my office seems separate. My built-in desk faces a window, and there’s a large seascape to the left so that I can feel the ocean breeze. I like music and wine, but most times it is music and Pellegrino.
Any tricks to get in the zone? – I haven’t found any. I wake up inspired or I don’t.
What genres do you prefer to read? – Most anything. I love to read but like many other people don’t have the time to read as much as I’d like. I do enjoy reading the same genres I write.
What’s your favorite book or movie? – That’s a hard one. My favorite movie is a tossup between Tombstone and The Libertine. Both as different as night and day!
What do you do for fun when you’re not writing? – I enjoy events with my car club. I enjoy travel, reading (to music), movies, shopping. I used to be addicted to eBay, but I’ve been cured! Horses, symphony, theater, formal dinners at home with my friends.
