Kara O’Neal is a teacher in Texas and lives with her husband, three children, one sheltie and four mice. She loves the wilds of her home state and draws inspiration from its beauty. She is an avid reader who decided to be an author, which would stun her freshman English teacher if she knew!
What is your primary or favorite genre to write? – Historical romance.
Do you have other genres you write for? – Not right now. I have thought about writing a mystery, but I usually incorporate a little bit of that in some of my current works.
Which project is your favorite so far? Why? – My favorite project was writing Love’s Redemption. I was able to reunite two characters who had been separated in the second book in my series.
How long have you been writing? Seventeen years.
Where is your favorite place to write? What kind of atmosphere do you need? Quiet, music, coffee, wine? Any tricks to get in the zone? – I write anywhere, so I don’t have a favorite place. I have to be flexible because, being a mom and a teacher, if I don’t snatch time whenever possible I wouldn’t get any books written. Luckily, telling stories about love relieves stress for me, so I haven’t needed any tricks. I do like to write while watching the Astros play! Something about the voices of Kalas and Blum really gets the juices flowing!
What genres do you prefer to read? – Historical fiction, historical romance, and mystery
What’s your favorite book or movie? – My favorite book and movie are one in the same – Pride and Prejudice.
What do you do for fun when you’re not writing? – I spend time with my family as much as possible. My daughter is a senior this year, so I don’t want to waste a second.
