Featuring Alina K. Field, author

Award-winning author Alina K. Field earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and German literature, but her true passion is the much happier world of romance fiction. Though her roots are in the Midwestern U.S., after six very, very, very cold years in Chicago, she moved to Southern California and hasn’t looked back. She is the author of several Regency romances, including the 2014 Book Buyer’s Best winner, Rosalyn’s Ring, and is hard at work on her next series of Regency romances.

What is your primary or favorite genre to write? – Regency Romance

Do you have other genres you write for? – I have a few contemporary romances and contemporary romantic suspense stories I hope to pull out and polish someday.

Field - fav book 200 pixWhich project is your favorite so far?  Why? – I’ve had a lot of fun with my Sons of the Spy Lord Series, which are basically Romantic Suspense stories set in the Regency. I love delving into the history and social attitudes of that era. It was a period of great exploration, social change, and continuous war. There are so many opportunities for interesting conflicts.

How long have you been writing? – Like most of us, I’ve been making up stories all my life. Writing for publication, though, for about ten years.

Where is your favorite place to write? What kind of atmosphere do you need? Quiet, music, coffee, wine? Any tricks to get in the zone? – When my daughter moved out, I took over her old bedroom as an office. Before that, I set up a table in the garage, which worked really well because no one could find me! I use a free website, RainyMood.com[1] to put me into the zone. Where I live, it seldom rains, and the sound of a good thunderstorm is very soothing.

What genres do you prefer to read? – Regency romance, historical mystery, and historical adventure

What’s your favorite book or movie? – For books—I love Loretta Chase’s Mr. Impossible and also Joanna Bourne’s The Forbidden Rose. Those are two amazing writers! For movies, I love The Last of the Mohicans and The Bourne Legacy. Sorry! Can’t pick just one!

What do you do for fun when you’re not writing? – I like to binge watch British police procedurals. Also, I knit and do a bit of sewing.
